Providing a rich and impactful educational experience is at the core of Florida A&M's mission.
Institutions of higher learning have a critical role to play in preparing society to adapt to impacts of climate change and environmental catastrophes and have the unique opportunity to model solutions in their own operations. Sustainability is powerful collaborative opportunity that can unite stakeholders from all corners of the university, integrate operations with research, while also producing innovative solutions and developing leaders. These experiences span the classroom, labs and the campus built environment itself as a living-learning laboratory. Our sustainability initiatives address several targeted areas of strategic emphasis for FAMU and the State University System of Florida, namely (1) increasing STEM degrees; (2) attracting external sources for R&D; (3) improved national rankings and global competitiveness.
